These mental health problems can last until adulthood. This could then cause the adult to go through a lifelong suffering of poor health. To stop the cause of mental health problems in low-income families should be by addressing social incentives of mental health. Finding the root of the cause which is increasing income to low-wage families can benefit the poor. Studies have shown that increasing their income can allow parents to raise their children properly by giving them more time to watch and raise their children. A slight increase in income can reduce the stress that low-income families…
One reason a family could be under stress would be because there may be a high level of unemployment. Having no income and structure can cause problems such as starvation in children, poor health in general and a poor concentration level while at school.…
Poverty and oppression can undermine health in many ways. Being oppressed can cause a person to not seek medical treatment. Consequently, this makes people more prone to getting physical and mental aliments. Many times certain groups are afraid to seek treatment. This is due to the history of the treatments their people previously received, which leads to the distrust of the health professionals.…
The information gathered from the assessment indicates that Suzy meets five of the diagnostic criteria; in addition to the nine (or more) of the symptoms in any of the five categories of intrusion, negative mood, dissociation, avoidance, and arousal. (cite) While running three weeks ago, Suzy was assaulted, with a focus on being raped as she believes by another runner. Suzy’s immediate exposure to an actual sexual violation, as she was directly involved, helps to justify the suggested diagnosis. Suzy notes she is having intrusive memories, flashbacks, along with nightmares about the traumatic event. The consistency and accuracy of these feelings can be justified as intrusion symptoms. Acute Stress Disorder criteria suggest that the individual…
It is very important to make the time for leisure activities to help cope better with stress and reduce the risk for suicidal behavior. Exercise is at the top of the list when it copes to treatment for stress. Humans who exercise are less likely to suffer from stress (Greenwood, 2012). Other typical recommendations for the reduction of stress include meditating, yoga, sleeping, reading, and listening to music. If Asian American students made the time for these recommended treatments there would most likely be a significant decrease in the stress levels among this…
According to the article “Social status has a measurable effect on health” studies show what are the main causes of health disparities, mostly in the united states, even though health care has improved a lot and it is better than years before, not everybody can get it, and that is because some people have a lower income rate and cannot afford it as easy as someone with a higher rate, and that also influences a person’s location in the community which may lead to unhealthy environments such as toxic substances, violent household, dangerous working place and stress, so…

“The Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe is a traumatizing story about a person who murdered an innocent old man because he thought that his eye was evil. The story states that the narrator was afraid of the eye and that is why he wanted to rid himself of it. The narrator had many signs of being proven to go to jail or to go to a mental hospital.…
children aged 18 years and younger were living in families with incomes below the poverty line, with African American and Latino families with children having especially high rates of poverty (more than 30 percent)” (Santrock, John, 2015). According to our text one study found that a higher percentage of U.S. children in deprived families than in middle-income families were exposed to family turmoil, separation from a parent, violence, crowding, excessive noise, and poor housing. It is also believed that the more year’s children are spent living in poverty, the higher their physiological are exposed to stress. The article focused on the effect of child poverty and related early life experiences on adult health outcomes. It not a surprise to me that a large majority of studies have revealed strong inverse associations between childhood status and adult patterns of morbidity and mortality. If a child continues to lives in poverty and continues to grow under those same conditions without adequate health care of course their chances of morbidity and mortality are higher entering adulthood will be higher.(Santrock, John.,…
However, one of the largest challenges faced by people today is overcoming the stress produced by everyday life. I know family and friends that take anti-depressants in order tothe deal with the stresses of everyday life. Meditation, on the other hand, provides a natural means of reducing stress and anxiety and can lead to enhanced mental health either in combination with, or in place of, popular anti-depressants. The improved mental health that can result from meditation can be seen in many ways. It generally gives you the perspective you need to manage your busy schedule and bring back a feeling of "I can handle this".…
I found this article about a week ago. I began looking for an article that could somehow assess for stress, but I quickly came to the conclusion that in reality we are all stressed. Essentially stress is universal (Varivogli & Darviri, 2011). It may be different from person to person, but we all have it in some form. Before I wrote my review I wanted to discuss some of the techniques with my patients. The single largest hindrance to stress management techniques were most patients thought it was related to some type of religion. One patient even told me it was hocus-pocus. I must admit that prior to reading this, these thoughts had crossed my mind. However, stress management techniques can actually go hand in hand with a patient’s religion or culture. Most religions and cultures value some kind of meditation. When visiting with a patient about reducing stress, the patient agreed to use deep breathing to help with some of her anxiety. The patient told me the next morning that she had a great night sleep and felt rested. She also expressed gratitude for sharing her this new information.…

Transmural: associated with atherosclerosis involving a major coronary artery. It can be subclassified into anterior, posterior, inferior, lateral or septal. A heart attack is also known as a myocardial infarction. A heart attack is when a part of the heart muscle is damaged or dies because it is not receiving oxygen. A heart attack is the death of heart muscle and it is caused by a sudden block of a coronary artery by a blood clot. Coronary arteries are blood vessels that supply the heart muscle with blood and oxygen. Causing injury to the heart muscle can cause chest main and pressure. If blood flow is not restored within 20 to 40 minutes permanent damage and death to the heart muscle will begin to occur. The heart muscle will continue to die for another 6-8 hours at this time the heart attack is complete. The death of heart muscle is replaced by scar tissue.…
