Ms. Jamison, the artistic director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater since Ailey 's death in 1989, recalled that night in an interview one afternoon last month. She remembers the dancer Dudley Williams 's rushing to congratulate her afterward, having been worried she wouldn 't make it through. A 16-minute solo would be daunting under any circumstances, but ' 'Cry, ' ' choreographed by Ailey ' 'for all black women everywhere -- especially our mothers, ' ' intensifies the challenge with its resonant emotional content.…

In the article “Those Terrible First Few Minutes”, the authors explain how to develop a protocol with better tactical options for civilians. The protocol must first follow lockdown procedures, minimize target profile, and wait for the police to arrive. This article explains how protocols will differ according to the age of the students and also the different dynamics like school events. Most schools include a generic school shooting protocol but they should not confine themselves with a protocol that fits all incidents. The generic protocol first provides a detailed phone call to 911 dispatchers about the situation. Then students and staff must hide in classrooms and stay quiet. If students or staff is spotted by the attacker then they must…

Probably the most important convention was the theme of the play. While the play made light of the topic of racism through its use of comedy, it is still important none the less. The theme is what carried the play along because even in today’s society it is still an issue that still prevails throughout the country and all over the world.…

During Monday’s class, we focused on Isadora Duncan’s perception of modern dance and dance in general. Her perception of dance was to use it as a mechanism to search our inner souls and find its connectedness with nature (Brown 7). We began an exercise concentrating solely on our breaths. Since Duncan believed in liberation and individuality, breathing is an action that we all individually own and is used as a tool to access our inner thoughts and our souls. During the breathing exercises, I fell into a deep state of meditation, focusing on the subtle inhales and exhales of my breath, and eventually felt invigorated afterwards. With each breath, I felt a release of this uninvited ball of negative energy, which had itself wrapped inside my core,…

I have chosen the Fosse style Which offers a different set of skills to what we have previously learnt. We first explored Siobhan Davies which gave us an insight into the new contemporary world which I am most comfortable with, it showed us how to use free flowing movements and an on-going sense of energy, not concentrating on connecting with the audience. We then began to look at Arlene Philips’ work which as a completely different style of dance this time focusing on learning how to develop our relationships with each other and for me personally doing this style of dance brought me completely out of my contemporary comfort zone helped me build my confidence in my performance and connection to the audience. Fosse’s style also let me begin to explore the use of acting and characterisation within dance.…

The Way You Look (at me) Tonight was a performance done by Jess Curtis and Claire Cunningham. The performance brought up very important themes throughout the entire piece. The major theme I took from this performance is love. Love was talked about and there was movement to help correlate with it. The dancers would speak on a subject and it would shortly be followed by a movement. This performance was very thought provoking and heartwarming. There were many little pieces each of them preformed to show how much they both love and care about each other.…

Her classes are taught by her personally. They are small. She consider them to be “very personalization” and she gives the students “Individual attention” So If you are a parent of a dance student who wishes for your child to receive that kind of instruction. Then that is what they will get at Mohawk Dance. The students at her studio are to be having a recital at Mohawk Regional Trail high school June 24th for the first time. The theme for the recital will be “I hope you dance.” I recall that is song which is done by Leann Ann Womack a county music person which I am familiar with. The recital will feature Tap, Ballet, Jazz and a little Hip Hop. So it could be a very nice recital base on what I know about the song. She plans on doing a recital…

At the beginning of the passage it is instantaneously established that the circumstances in which the two brothers, Andre and Jacob, are currently residing in are appalling. These would be the same conditions that most of the Jewish people would have been residing in prior to being taken to concentration camps. We are aware that the conditions are poor as Faulks tells us that ‘Andre was lying on the floor’ which implies that he has nowhere else to sleep, it also shows how exhausted he must have been as young boys would not normally be resting. We are also informed at the start of the passage that the boys are French-Jewish, by their names.…

Hello, I’m Jake Lovington and welcome to this week’s review programme, in which we will be focussing on a talent show called the X factor which many people will definitely know about as it’s a super duper hit worldwide. X factor is a sensational singing talent show in which people who have a passion for singing take part in, other than the fact that there have been various people who auditioned for X factor who certainly do have a passion for singing but I guess they also have a passion for humiliation because they believe that they can sing whereas they clearly can’t and all they do is embarrass themselves on television. X factor has been running since September 2004 and still is, this show is one of the most successful talent shows aired on television which millions of people watch globally. In this season of X factor there are four judges who are Louis, Tulisa, Kelly and Gary. Simon Cowell is not in this season so the contestants have better chances of winning. This show is also in competition with the X factor USA which is also being aired at the moment.…

Picture an 86-year-old man. What comes to mind? With the occasional exception, many men this age are retired, some are grandfathers, and most are living quieter, slower-paced lives. With the exception of having grandchildren, Severinsen fits none of these stereotypes. His energy level throughout the performance was comparable to the energy levels displayed by much younger musicians. He kept both the other musicians in his band and the Penn State crowd pumped up by yelling out and making sure that everyone was having a good time. Although one could tell that Severinsen was getting worn out, at times, from blowing his trumpet for too long (seen as his face turned red and his cheeks got puffy), nothing would stop him from delivering a magnificent, foot-tapping, body-swaying performance.…
