stronger candidate
The key concepts and topics that have made me a stronger candidate to enter the business world is knowing what the rules and regulations are for federal, state, and local laws before opening a business is very important. Each State and local laws differ between states and cities, where the Federal laws and regulations are the same across the United States. Some of the Federal laws would be;
• FLSA – Fair Labor standards Act which covers the wages and hours of the employees.
• OSHA – Occupational Safety and Health Administration which creates a safe and healthy workplace.
• ADA – Americans with Disabilities Act which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, transportation and public accommodation.
If you do not follow the rules and regulations for the federal, state, and local then you could be heavily fined. Another key concept is the importance of the 4 P’s (product, price, place, and promotion) of marketing that makes me a stronger candidate in business is to have a marketing strategy. Having a marketing strategy impacts on your business because you need to have a product to sell at a profitable price, promote your products and to place your product out front where customers can see them and make sure they are neatly set. Taking this course of Associates Capstone in Management has affected me in my professional development as a student because it was a reflection of all the classes that I have taken for the last two years to achieve my Associates Degree in Management. This has helped me deciding whether I will be going on for my Bachelor’s degree in management, which I will be going for that in about three to six months due to moving states and jobs. I really enjoyed learning something new every day and/or every week. In the near future I would like to open up my own business and this has helped me tremendously.
