Struggle In John Steinbeck's The Five People You Meet In Heaven
All three books, while someone what different, are intertwined with each other. While dealing with different deities all men struggle at a certain part in life in their beliefs. However, after everything that happens to the men, the struggle ends up bringing them closer to their beliefs. The priests in Silence go through a physical and mental struggle in which they are forced into unimaginable situations. The Five People You Meet in Heaven has Eddie going through a physical struggle to hobble over and save a girl from certain death. This is also a mental issue due to his frequent losing of people he and objects loved. Saving the girl meant saving the only thing to survive his whole life, the pier.
