I never thought of being stuck as a great learning opportunity. I often find being stuck is quite a nuisance, but I can see why it can be great learning opportunity as long as you have a positive outlook. Attitude plays a big role for success and I know it’s something that I need to work on in this class. I was always good at math and I find these problems very difficult, so it’s often very frustrating for me. I know I will have future students who are exactly like me, so it’s important for me teach my students that its okay to get stuck and get frustrated. But you can only be frustrated for a little while, because after that, it’s time to put your thinking cap back on. It’s also important for my students to know the difference between specializing and generalizing. When students specialize they are in the entry and beginning of the attack phase. Specializing allows students to figure out what they want to know when solving problems. Generalizing is apart of the attack and review phase.
