Student Imposture

Student Imposture is a growing trend for students enrolled in on line classes. A student imposture is an instance of pretending to be someone else in order to deceive others. There are many motives and reasons a student taking an online class would want an impostor. I think there are many motives and reasons for wanting to have a student imposter. One motive would be that the student just does not want to take the time to do the work his or herself. Two they have a fear of failing and he or she doesn’t think they are good enough. Or he or she could have a job and are falling behind. Imposters doubt their achievements are a result of their ability and instead attribute their success to non-ability factors. These are just a few motives that come to mind.

Or he or she feels they still have something to prove to others, and they just want the acknowledgement and the feeling of being needed. The surrogate if they get caught can end up in serious trouble. So it can play games with your mind. Not only having to worry about acting as someone else you have the worry of being caught. It isn’t worth it in my book. The actual student is hoping to obtain an easy grade and not having to do it themselves. He or she wants everyone to think that they are doing a good job. He or she probably is used to getting everything handed to them so they don’t know how to do it themselves. I would not want the worry of being caught. It is only hurting them by not doing their work. He or she is not learning the material that is needed to be successful. Once they get their degree and are out in the work force it will show. That’s when it will come around to bite them in the butt. It makes them look good for a while but time will

Was Abraham Lincoln justified in not freeing the slaves immediately? Slave states were afraid of an anti-slavery government so they seceded from the United States. The slave states that seceded from the United States became the Confederate States of America and the United States became the Union. Lincoln entered into war to get back the slave states that seceded from the Union. This war ultimately lasted four years with the Confederate States of America losing the war, and the United States gaining back those states.…

Reconstruction has changed the United States tremendously, the historic period was a period after the Civil War. It was the effort to unite African Americans and whites, establish privileges to former slaves, and establish citizenship to African Americans as well. However, the Reconstruction Act was a triumph as it created new Amendments and new constitutions for confederate states. It came to an end which brought about different issues, for example, segregation and Jim Crow Laws were in full effect which caused violence and so on. The Reconstruction was a major act for the African Americans in the South.…

Cheating of course is the act of copying someone else’s work and making it seem as if it is you own. But what about those that are not glancing over someone’s test to get the answers, but instead, are allowing their work to be copied? This is called passive cheating, when a person either lets others copy their work or do not notify a teacher when they see someone cheating. Both are equally at fault. Although passive cheating can be seen as less morally significant, it still allows the dishonest action to continue. “Cheating in college poses a threat to all of our educations, and it can only be reduced by us choosing to stop it from happening.”(Bryce Buchmann). This is why…

Personally, I have a hard time understanding why anyone would share that kind of information with others; helping someone who has not taken an assessment only puts everyone involved at a disadvantage. Firstly, the person sharing the information is at a disadvantage, since he has given away information he did not have when he was taking the test, making that person better prepared. The receiver of the information could easily get a higher grade, and that only makes the student sharing information look worse. But even if a student receives higher grade, he is still risking not knowing the information of the exam complete, which in the long run will hard him when final exams or any cumulative test will come around. This is assuming that neither of the students get caught sharing information; it will only take one student getting caught to ruin the grades of both students on that exam and putting both those students at risk for disciplinary action.…

One day a student sat in class, preparing to take a test, everyone is required to do so, and the person seated next to said student has forgotten or neglected to study. They're automatically going to look for a way to pass it, and if the only other way to do it is to look at your paper for the answers, that's exactly what they're going to do. Of course the person's going to think it's perfectly fine, as long as they get that "A ", but it's a terrible thing to do. If both of…

However if that same student had a professor who strongly reinforced the importance of academic integrity, they may be less likely to cheat because there would be a much higher chance of getting caught. This will only work to a certain extent however because if there are not harsh punishments, students will not fear getting caught. One of the most effective punishments for academic dishonesty can be seen at the University of Maryland. “The standard sanction for academic dishonesty at Maryland is the "XF" grade penalty, noted on the transcript as "failure due to academic dishonesty." Students may petition the Honor Council for removal of the "X" from the transcript one year after being found responsible for an offense if they successfully complete an academic integrity seminar (Office np).” In order for it to be successful, the “XF” grade would have to be mandatory for every class with every professor responsible for reporting all incidents of academic dishonesty. The downfall to this method is that there are many professors who simply don’t take the time to analyze and check to make sure work handed in to them was not plagiarized.…

There method of enforcing them which I find really brilliant is that they encourage students to report cheating on other students. This is even worse because, students are everywhere to be seen and, they know the tricks that other students use to cheat. Moreover, have you ever heard of the saying “honesty is the best policy?”Well this would apply to what is being said here because, cheating is also another act of lying to someone that you didn’t get help taking an exam. And,when you take that with you into the real world in a career and, god forbid you get caught you’ll get fired by your boss.…
