2012 Summer Olympics medal table
The 2012 Summer Olympics medal table is a list of National Olympic Committees (NOCs) ranked by the number of gold medals won during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. Approximately 10,800 athletes participated in 302 events in 26 sports.[1]
Of the 204 NOCs participating, 85 received at least one medal; 54 won at least one gold medal. Bahrain,[2] Botswana,[3] Cyprus,[4]Gabon,[5] Grenada (a gold medal),[6] Guatemala,[7] and Montenegro[8] won their first Olympic medals. In prior Olympics, however, Montenegrin athletes have won medals as nationals of Serbia and Montenegro and of Yugoslavia. An athlete from Serbia won the first Olympic gold medal for the country as an independent NOC; Serbian athletes have previously won gold medals as nationals of Serbia and Montenegro and of Yugoslavia.[9]

Medal table

Medal winners in women's trap shooting, from left to right: Zuzana Štefečeková from Slovakia (silver), Jessica Rossi from Italy (gold), and Delphine Réau from France (bronze)

Victoria Azarenka (bronze) from Belarus, Serena Williams (gold) from the United States, and Maria Sharapova (silver) from Russia won medals in tennis – women's singles.
This is the table of the medal count of the 2012 Summer Olympics, based on the medal count of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). These rankings sort by the number of gold medals, earned by a National Olympic Committee (NOC). The number of silver medals is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze medals. If, after the above, countries are still tied, equal ranking is given and they are listed alphabetically by IOC Country Code. Although this information is provided by the IOC, the IOC itself does not recognize or endorse any ranking system.[10]
In boxing, judo, taekwondo, and wrestling, two bronze medals are awarded

There are many different factors that have shaped the modern Olympic movement from 1892 to 2002. It was originally revived so people of different races could interact with other people without conflict. They wanted to have a temporary time of international peace. This idea is expressed in Document 1. The author, Pierre de Coubertin, explains how the athletes are exported into other lands without any hostility. The author is credible because he is also the founder of the modern Olympic movement. However, many countries were motivated by political, social, and economical reasons. The reasons altered the competitiveness of the Olympics.…

The economies of the countries who host the Olympic games generally have a boost in the economy. With a few exceptions like South Korea. Even with the Olympic games being hosted in Seoul, none of their companies were selected as top sponsors. “Korean companies are not on the list. Korea failed to avail itself of an opportunity to display its industrial and economic power to a worldwide television audience.” (Doc 7) One country that always contributed to the games was the United…

Affably the best female gymnast was Larisa Latynina from the Soviet Union. She earned one bronze, one silver, and four golds at the 1956 Games in Melbourne, Australia. One of the four golds came from her floor routine that she and her competition performed on carpet covered concrete instead of springboard, which is more commonly used for gymnastics floor events. Throughout the next eight years she added twelve medals to her collection with at least one per event. Latynina ended with eighteen medals; nine golds, five silvers, and four bronzes. She is the most decorated Olympian of all time. Latynina’s name is on the file of athletes who have won nine or more golds. She just so happens to be the only female on the list. She holds the record for…

As women started to find this sport, a women’s Olympic team was created. The team was created around 1928.
