Though I scored higher in Musical/Rhythmic, my preferred learning style is intrapersonal which was my second highest score. The major characteristics of my preferred learning style are learning best when working alone and only depending on oneself to to get things done. The learning style I scored highest in musical/rhythmic describes my personal preferences, but does not apply to my academic and professional preferences. Academically and professional my learning style of intrapersonal describes me more accurately. After being given instructions either verbally or I writing, I prefer to work alone to get the task or tasks completed. I am able to work effectively in a team, but my prefer to do things alone so that I know they are being done correctly versus depending on the accuracy of others.…

The overall experience completing the LASSI student report was interesting one due to the difficulty associated with being completely honest with yourself. This is definitely something that I have found to be a re-occurrence throughout this course, however due to the nature of the questions in this particular section, it proved to be the daunting questionnaire this course has required yet. After finishing the student report, I was able to conclude that the nature of the questions and the honesty involved paid off because I found this resource to be the most reflective and also the most helpful in targeting the weaknesses in my academic skills. My lowest two scores were in anxiety and time management, and I feel very confident that these two are closely related. I do not have issues in learning the actual content of courses, rather my problems occur in not effectively allotting time to learn it which in turn causes the stress and the two together result in poor exam performance. In order to avoid these issues which result in extreme stress come exam time I need to set aside time to effectively plan and schedule time and techniques for completing assignments and studying, then follow through with the derived plan.…

There are several theories with different approaches on detailed categorizing of the learning styles. However, one of them defines the learning styles into three main types: visual, auditory and practical(kinaesthetic). Although classifying the learning styles into three primary groups is over simplified, in contrast to the other theories, mentioned above, it gives an easy practical approach and more clarity on understanding the different strategies of learning.…

One of the differences between students who do well on the tests or exams and those who do poorly is in the type and amount of studying they do. Students who have developed good study habits often earn high grades and derive a general sense of accomplishment from their efforts. Knowing that they are adequately prepared for a test also reduces their anxiety. Like other skills, studying skills are acquired though practice and instruction. Furthermore, people’s performance on a test will most likely improve if they space their study time even several intervals rather than cram all the studying into one session. When cramming is used as a substitute for planned study, test performance is not as good.…
