Subjective Topics In American History

American History is a very interesting topic when historians look at its commencement. One of the most subjective topics in american history is what should be defined as the start of it. Whether you believe that American history began when Columbus discovered the western hemisphere in 1492, or when the pilgrims reached plymouth rock in 1620, or even whenever the first mayan discoveries were found to be in around 2600. No matter your opinion, everyone can agree that the answer isnt definitive, and in fact it is quite overlooked in the scheme of American History. The event that i believe marks the beginning of American history is 3114 BC otherwise known as the start of the Mayan calendar, however the author of a voyage long and strange believes that the event that marks the beginning of american history is when a particular viking group struck upon it, completely on accident.
The Mayans had an intricate calendar system, with a start date of 3114 BC. This is not what i believe to be the first trace of life on the american continent, but if you have to narrow it down to one event, this is the most accurate place to start. since many of the people groups who existed in the time period of the mayans did not have writing systems, it creates a lack of information on these people after their extinction, with this lack of information one cant mark any accurate date as the beginning of american history, other than what the mayans supplied for us in their calendars. The mayan calendars have a sense of credibility due to the scientific accuracy that they consist of. The mayan calendar included a 365 day year, many of there astronomical achievements can be dedicated to their full time astronomers who took records and data every day in order to make the discoverys that they
