Whether I’m having a bad day at school or technical difficulties aboard Galaxy One on my way to Mars, this track won’t fall short of soothing my mood. The song kicks in with a head-bopping crunchy guitar riff, layered over a smooth reggae guitar. In the opening verse Bradley Nowell makes references to Bob Marley, Half Pint, Mike Tyson, The Boomtown Rats, and the Beastie Boys which would remind me of life on planet Earth during my permanent residency on Mars. Bradley Nowell’s vocals and Eric Wilson’s bassline are what make this song so powerful. When I heard the words “Oh well the bars are always open, and the time is always right And if God's good word goes unspoken, well the music goes all night” The happiness and free-spirit in his voice translates every time I hear the song. The bassline throughout this song brings the entire energy together. Midway through the song it breaks into “439-0116 when you’re down with Sublime you get Funky fresh” and at that point the wailing guitar solo forces me to jump around and dance before going back into the verse. During my permanent residency in Mars, I may encounter extraordinary environments, extraterrestrial lifeforms, and possibly live off of astronaut food. While this might be interesting for a little while, eventually I would start missing being human. Whenever I would start feeling alien-like and want to feel the nostalgia of human life I know I could put on some Sublime and kick back
