SubSahara Africa Essay Analyze the changes and continuities in subSahara Africa from 1900 to present. From 1900 to the present, subSahara Africa has been through many changes, despite being a slow developing place. It has also backtracked in several ways. Changes that have happened include the nations of this region uniting as well as getting rid of troublesome dictators and ending apartheid. Despite having these many changes, some aspects of SubSaharan Africa stayed behind. One such continuation was the civil wars that took place in a lot of the poor estates. A change that played a huge role in African history is the freedom of the peoples from horrifying conditions. Under this freedom, there were many things including the end of apartheid. Apartheid can be explained as the segregation brought about by feelings of superiority harbored by Europeans due to their advantages over the African peoples. African rights were diminished in the presence of apartheid. The Groups Area Act and the Population Registration Act are two laws that did not allow educating of Africans for jobs made for white men, two races living in the same place, and marriage between two separate races. Nelson Mandela, the African president, had just been released from prison when he wrote a constitution which eliminated the laws of apartheid. This essentially ended the 70 year reign of apartheid in Africa. Africans were finally freed from the control of corrupt leaders as well as European oppression. Even though a central government was created when Nigeria’s independence was announced in 1960, conflict began due to the legislators not wanting to cooperate with government. This led to many parties splitting Nigeria into four regions. The leader of the Yoruba party was arrested after being conflicted by this. Elections that followed were rigged and soon enough corrupt military officers began to rule and Nigeria’s system was soon corrupted. These corrupt
