What is standardized testing? It is a type of test that is used to signify objective tests that include questions such as fill in the blank, multiple-choice, true/false, or short essay. All students take the same tests with the same questions so that the scores can be compared. Computers score most parts of these tests. People that have rubrics with guidelines on how to score the answers grade questions like fill in the blank and short essay answers. The results of these tests deliver two types of standardized test score interpretations, norm-referenced tests and criterion-referenced tests (Lurie, 2000). Norm-referenced tests is used to obtain percentile rankings for a group of test takers, and criterion-referenced is used in any form and provides absolute scores (Lurie, 2000).…

The SAT’s: the dreaded test that's supposed to determine the future of a nervous, impressionable high school student. The much-anticipated test has no place in our society anymore, though. The SAT is a terrible, overstressed measurement for college admission and it is totally ineffective in actually analyzing the students themselves. Scrapping this test from the college admission process is crucial in creating a better-fit educational system for our youth. As a student actually experiencing the SAT in this time period, my opinion is that the test is horribly uncalled for in our growing, advanced society today.…

Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is required to make sure the readiness of the colleges students; or several universities usually use SAT as the requirement for freshmen to enroll in the university. SATs are used not only to measure the readiness to attend colleges or universities, but also to measure the intelligence of the test-taker. A standardized test gives the wrong symbolic messages about test. It suggests that standardized test is a simply skill, rather than an active way of thinking and learning. It also suggests that once a student demonstrates proficiency then he or she does not need to do anything. With more students taking standardized tests, most of them have attributed to meet the state’s standards for college-level entry, due to the improvements on their states standard tests, though average scores in math and verbal tests dropped significantly between 2007 and 2010.…

The SAT is a standardized test, administrated by the College Board, which most Universities and Colleges in the United States require in order to be accepted. The SAT test was first designed and used in 1901 and has undergone many substantial changes since then. The test is made of three sections; mathematics, critical reading, and writing. The four hour test includes a range of questions which all vary in difficulty. The purpose of this test is primarily to judge the level of education each student has and whether they are at a sufficient level in order to meet the educational requirements of a particular college. Different colleges set different SAT requirement scores and therefore a SAT score can determine a student’s future and the likelihood of being accepted into the colleges of their choice.…
