First and foremost, the team will not comply to any corrections, cleaning, advice, or commands if the officer are not respected. Respect is gained by showing traits such as integrity, dedication, and compassion. Team members look up to an officer that is compassionate and a friend, but tough when necessary. Also, in order to set the example for respect, the officer must respect others, including teammates, officers, directors, peers, teachers, and fellow Lee-ettes. Respect is the silent form of communication and appreciation that is the base for all strong relationships and is the necessary glue for holding together a well-disciplined team. It is key to be a superb teacher and enjoy teaching in order to be a successful officer. A prosperous officer must be engaging, evolving, resilient, accountable, and patient when teaching. An officer is someone to look up to and must represent the organization well. A successful officer must set aside her selfish desires and must always make the correct decision. Being a good role model sets the example for the team, which sets the bar for the whole year. A positive attitude is included in being a good role model.
