Sucker Analysis
Disclaimer: Before you decide to go further with reading this review, I must come clean and advise you I am a die hard fan of Foals. Like Étienne has said before me upon reviewing Charli XCX's Sucker, I will try and put aside my forever devoted obsession with the band in order to deliver a review as impartial and just as humanly possible. Shall we now?

Foals dates back a couple of years, The Oxford band's sound has changed tremendously since 2007's Antidotes. Back then, they could have easily been mistaken for Bloc Party and bands alike, which can partially be attributed to the fact that TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek was the producer for the album. With every record came a new producer, with the sound of the band evolving every single time and slowly leaning towards the more refined, arena-ready solid rock band they are today. 2012's Holy Fire, especially its lead single Inhaler, seemed like a peak that could not be attained again, let alone

"Now that we're older/The future is colder" he sings. After all of this, about 40 seconds of dying notes and instruments slowly fading. It is interesting how this odyssey begins as 5 confident men delivering solid music for craving fans looking for something to sing along and bang their heads to in the festivals, something as confident as What Went Down. Yet, all of it ends with the front man sharing his insecurities and his discontent about how it all turned out.

Aside from the major build ups, What Went Down showcases the band's ability to deliver slower softer songs in the likes of Give It All. Song number six on the album, Snake Oil, show a "groovier" rock side than what the pod usually does all while keeping their signature style. Over all, the guys from Foals have outdone themselves yet again by delivering their best album to date with What Went

The sock monkey article on Wikipedia has three sections: origins, sock monkeys today, and sock monkey festivals. The introduction is very brief and only has two sentences but it is a basic definition of what a sock monkey is and that they are a blend of United States and Canadian cultures. The origins sections described how sock monkeys originated in the Victorian era, but at that time they did not have the classic red lips or bottom. This section also states the Nelson Knitting Company and its founder and how they influenced the sock monkey’s present iconic appearance. The third paragraph in the section explained how the Nelson Knitting Company received the patent for sock monkeys in the late 1950’s. One of the biggest problems that the origins…

To begin with, the media portrays false images of how poor the lower class is, how lazy they are as a result of their own life choices. We see similar portrays of false images in Bell Hooks essay “Seeing And Making Culture: Representing The Poor” . For instance, Bell Hooks describes how the lower class is portrayed incorrectly through social media based on personal experience when she states the comments of her peers and professors, “they almost always portrayed the poor as shiftless, mindless, lazy, dishonest, and unworthy” (Hooks 484). This quote is a prime example of how the lower class are expected not strive and work as hard as other people and are seen as not good enough.…

If you can say anything about the unashamedly AC/DC worshipping Airbourne and the ten tracks they’ve produced on Black Dog Barking, they know what works for them here and they have perfected it to an artform. In fact, the bar has been set so high on this album that I really can’t see how the band can outdo themselves on their next effort. The production has also been well and truly turned up a notch since 2010’s No Guts No Glory, every riff, lyric and drum beat sounding more polished than ever before.…

Number Eight: Their Music Got More Serious as They Got Older. On Blink 182’s later albums, their sound and humor mature a bit. That’s not to say that the band was never serious (“Adam’s Song” still remains one of the band’s saddest songs), but it happened more frequently later on. Starting with their 2003 self-titled album, the band’s music took a darker tone, getting more experimental. The video for one of their last singles, “Up All Night,” from the 2011 album Neighborhoods, features…

I would give their performance a 9.5 out of 10 if I had to give a grade on their performance. Their performance was amazing and had a lot of enthusiasm, but I think they should have better choices of music because some of the songs are too mainstream and I think it would be cool for them to make original songs or cover songs that aren't as well known. Regardless, they did an incredible job performing their songs and making the audience pleased. I am already planning on trying to come to as many more of their concerts as I can, because I like them and plus, I want to support my friend, Caleb. Sympathetic Vibrations, you guys were…

Following the release of their wildly popular but equally peculiar freshman album Zaba, the UK foursome Glass Animals took two-years to tour. Over this time their experiences and creativity resulted in the creation of their sophomore album How To Be A Human Being. True to form their second album is filled with soft vocals paired with a wide range of electric beats and background noises. Front man of the group Dave Bayley is quick to stress the importance of individual interpretation of each song. “I don't feel like that should ever be the case – each person's interpretation is 100% important. It's much more interesting for everyone that way.” (Bayley). The group took an interesting approach when constructing their second album. Each of the…

The band decided to continue on without Barrett and Waters stepped in as the dominant composer and writer. Using Barrett's vision as an obvious blueprint, but adding a more formal, somber, and quasi-classical tone, their 1968 follow-up A Saucerful of Secrets, made the British Top Ten and proved the band was to continue on. For the next four years they would work on their sound, keeping it within the range of psychedlia, but reaching out to the uses…
