As already mentioned, one of the most significant reasons a sugary drink is terrible for you is, they can be linked to the cause of countless health problems. For this serious reason, it is important to control your intake of sugary drinks and ultimately of sugar in general.
Excessive amounts of sugar is not the end to these problems, they also contain a large amount of calories. Calories in these drinks are highly responsible for weight gain. Theses calories are empty, meaning they have zero nutritional value. Sugary drinks can be considered the leading source of calories in the diet of a teen. They contain a higher amount of calories than pizza does. Another problem is, some sugary drinks may contain artificial sweeteners, such as a diet soda. Artificial sweeteners are sugar substitutes. These sugar substitutes are a source of various health problems as well.
Sugary drinks are dangerous because they can result in addiction. There are two ingredients in a soda that can be linked to this the addiction. One, they contain sugar. Sugar addiction is partially involved with leptin, a hormone produced by the body. Sugar increases cravings just like drugs do. As a matter of fact, “sugar activates the brain’s pleasure centers more than cocaine does.” The second reason they are addictive is caffeine. “Caffeine is the world’s most popular psychoactive drug and it's reported that more than 80% of Americans have it in some form every day.” There are four main results of the consumption of sugary drinks. First, weight gain is a typical result, and it can lead to obesity, overweight, if not controlled. This is an unfortunate, yet frequent result, furthermore, it is important to take care of it before it gets out of hand. Second, the consumption of sugary drinks is partly responsible for diabetes. Consequently, an alternative of consuming sugary drinks on a daily basis is the risk of type 2 diabetes. Thirdly, they cause tooth decay. They are highly responsible for the cavities of a great deal of people. The final main result is heart disease. When you drink sugary drinks often, you are putting yourself at a higher risk of having heart diseases. There are three main, natural ways to deal with the consumption of sugary drinks.
One, drink less sugar. Simply cut back on drinking sugary drinks. They are not beneficial to you in any way. Second, eat as well as drink more natural sugars. Many natural sugars are found in fruits. Fruits are an exceptional sugar substitute. Not only do they contain natural sugar, they also have several other health benefits. Finally, drink more water. Drinking water helps clean out your system. This is extremely important for your health. The next time you are in the mood for something sugary, choose to eat a piece of fruit.
