SUMMARY #1
Dont Blame the Eater, an article wrote by David Zinczenko. In this article the author compares his life style of being obese to others. David starts out by talking about his lifestyle as a teen in the mid 1980s. David was the typical teenager, had split parents, and he ate like the typical teenager. He stated that he at two meals every day at various places including "McDonald's, Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken or Pizza Hut.". From these fast food restaurants David had gained up to 215 pounds at the age of 15, he had become obese. However David turned his life around and had gone to college and joined the Navy Reserve. David says most teenagers, once they get into the fast food eating habit they stay in it.
Teenage obesity in today's society is what is discussed in the Article by David Zinczenko. Back in the early 1980s, teenage obesity wasn't mainly caused by fast food or unhealthy eating. However in todays society more and more teenagers are eating fast food daily. The result of this is obesity, and coming from that is type 2 diabetes. Teenager's then sue the fast food industry for making that day. David asks is it the teenagers fault or the restaurants?
David says it can go both ways; the teenagers does have a sense of mind to know to eat healthy foods; but also the fast food industry doesn't put out the risks of there food and nutrional value. Such as tobacco, they have proven risks, and warning labels. Fast food has proven health risks, but no warning label. With these warning labels fast food restaurants could protect themselves and there customers from lawsuits and obesity. David states that if these warning labels aren't put in place, then children are going to continue to be obese and there are going to be a lot of litigious parents. As David states "I say, let the deep-fried chips fall where they may."
