The play focuses on the exploration of romanticism and the pursuit of love. The story revolves around the upcoming marriage between Duke Theseus and Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. The Duke is approached by a man named Egeus who is in complaint of his daughter’s choice of men. He wishes that his daughter, Hermia, will marry Demetrius in which she declines. The penalty is “Either to die the death” or “To live a barren sister all your life” (1657). Hermia and Lysander make plans to run off and get married. Hermia’s friend, Helena, comes into the picture. Helena is in love with Demetrius, but he is not in love with her. Helena tells Demetrius the plan of the elopement in an attempt for him to fall in love with her. 2). The Princess Bride movie opens the same way when the grandfather reads to the sick boy in bed. The boy’s reaction to the romantic fairytale is a sign of disgust and reflects the attitude toward pastoral romances. The ending of Daphnis and Chloe focuses on two young sheep and goat herders that fall in love in rural Lesbos, living it an even older literary style by the word usage, setting, and pastoral themes. The Greek ideality revolves around a young couple that proves their love and fidelity through an almost impossible length of obstacles, only to be together happily in the end. The movies’ long storyline comes at the price of any significant character development, an aspect that The Princess Bride uses comedic advantage. The movie places a large amount of insane barriers between Westley and Buttercup knowing about what they have both been through psychologically. Our knowledge of the characters is based only on their relation to the plotline. Their motivation to get passed these obstacles is simple, “true love”. This is the big theme that consumes the otherwise a hero for both man and…

Hamlet is ashamed of himself because he continues to say that he will act and kill Claudius but unremittingly finds an excuse to not go through with his plans. Hamlet sees Young Fortinbras taking action and so Hamlet states, “How all occasions do inform against me, / And spur my dull revenge” (IV.iv.31-32). This shows Hamlets irritation towards himself and states that everything reminds him of his incomplete revenge on Claudius. Seeing Young Fortinbras with his army to fight for what is said to be something insignificant makes Hamlet admire him, he expresses, “Exposing what is mortal and unsure / To all that fortune, death, and danger dare, / Even for an egg-shell” (IV.iv.50-53). In this passage Hamlet states that Young Fortinbras is taking action even for a small piece of land that does not mean much to him while Hamlet cannot even take action to avenge his fathers death. Finally, Hamlet vows that he will stick to a plan to kill Claudius and finally grant his ghost fathers wish. After Fortinbras prompts Hamlets feelings in this direction, at the end of his soliloquy, Hamlet states, “O, from this time forth, / My thoughts be bloody, or be nothing worth” (IV.iv.64-65). Hamlet is saying that he will think only about how to kill Claudius and make no excuse to stray away from this plan. Thus, displaying Hamlets new and only focus is to kill Claudius after seeing how cowardly he is acting compared to Young Fortinbras, who is the reason of Hamlets soliloquy. Therefore, Hamlet is ashamed of himself after seeing Young Fortinbras take action so quickly and this prompts Hamlet to vow to go through with his plans to avenge his father’s death and finally slay the current Kind Claudius.…

I have succeeded in tricking the whole royal family into thinking I am 'mad.' Ophilia, Polonius, Gertrude, Claudius, and all the rest of them believe that I am heart-broken and losing my mind. This should play right into my trap. Since I now know of the players that are in town, I can continue my plan that consists of disposing of Claudius.

Fooling the royal family was a simple task. They believe that I have become mad because of the forbiddance of Ophilia to see me. I even expressed a will to die, rather then be left without her. All of this I am doing, because I see no other way. I must deceive the king, until I am ready to kill him.

I was having doubts of the ghost recently. At first, I figured it to be a legitimate specter. Showing up at a time very shortly after my great father's death and wearing his shining armor. He seemed to speak of wisdom that only my dead king could portray. Now, I wonder if it wasn't a phantom sent from hell to lure me into killing my mother's lover and king. If true, I would never be able to live with myself, for that would be a horrible deed, done wrong. Yet, I cannot just dismiss this apparition, so I will carry out my plan.

I have decided, that with the help of the players and a little improvising on my part with the script they will read, to check on Claudius' conscience. They shall perform a play in which the king is slain and shall watch my new king very closely, for if he so much as flinches I can be sure that the ghost has spake the truth. With that confirmation, I shall begin constructing my play to kill…
