Summary Chapter 2 Colonial Outposts

Based upon what you read in this document and also in Chapter 2: Colonial Outposts, what evidence can you use to show Europeans attitudes or ideas about the new world in the sixteenth and into the seventeenth centuries? After reading Chapter 2 and Richard Hakluyt I can say that the Europeans attitude was quite cynical. Just like the other nations; the Europeans had the same objective to have wealth and glory. The only difference is that the Europeans had other plans. Although they were in search for gold, they also were searching for a water route on the Northwest Passage, that they were sure existed.
