Curfews over the years have lowered teenage crime rates by 23 percent around the world. Some people believe that Curfews do not lower the crime rates in our generation of teens. “Studies in Tulsa, Oklahoma showed that arrests rose despite the curfew law.” That might be true, but that is only in one place. Curfew laws still lower the amount of arrests in teens. Greasers are believed to be hoodlums in their society without a curfew. “Greasers are almost like hoods; we steal things and drive old souped-up cars and hold up gas stations and have a gang fight every once in awhile.” If the Greasers and Socs had a curfew, maybe things that happened late at night wouldn’t have happened. …show more content…
They just don’t have the same rights that the average adult do. America is based off of our freedom. People actually believe that curfews diminish teenagers freedoms in life. “Our country is based on freedom. Curfews violate a minor’s rights.” Curfews don’t violate anyone's rights. The only things being violated with curfews are the laws about it; and that isn’t anyone’s fault but the teenager or child who did it. The gang doesn’t lose rights because of a curfew law, they lose it because of their actions; especially Dally. “ He had quite a reputation. They have a file on him down at the police station. “He had been arrested, he got drunk, he rode in rodeos, lied, cheated, stole, rolled drunks, jumped small kids, he did everything.” Dally did that on pure choice not because of any law involving time constraints or anything like
