As a medical assistant it is her duty to help build a relationship with the patients. Whether they see a patient once a year or several times a month, the relationships they build with patients result in a positive influence on both the patient’s outlook and the medical office’s reputation. If the patients ever found out that they were being overcharged, the clinics reputation would decrease and make other people not want to go there anymore. When it comes to consequence, she knows that if does not say anything and the manager finds out she will be just as guilty for letting it happen and doing nothing to stop it. She thought about how it would affect her in the long run. She knew that she had to do something and going to the manger about the problem was the last step in her mind. Jennifer said that she confronted her friend and told her what she is doing is wrong. Jennifer’s friend response was that it did not matter if she charged an extra few dollars because it will not make a difference to them. Jennifer told her that she needs to stop doing that because now she is involved since management put her in charge of the money. Jennifer also stated that she was thankful for helping her get the job and that she cannot afford to get fired so if it continues she will have to get the manager involved. Jennifer said that she felt bad for saying that she would get the manager involved, but at the end she felt better because the stress was too much to deal with.
