In 1998 to 2003 a war took place in Africa that was so bad that it was called World War 3. The war was on DR Congo (Highest country affected by Food Insecurity) soil. Only a year before that another war was on Congo’s soil which meant that Congo’s once peaceful country turned war torn and poor. In the second war over 5.4 million people died by either salvation or killed in the war. Because of the war DR Congo was destroyed and that meant there was hardly any food or water. Years later it was named the worst country effect by food insecurity.
In parts of Congo getting food and water is rare and very expensive. Some people earn up to just $1 dollar a day. The country is poor mostly because of war and there isn’t that many roads. With families struggling to survive and the high number of orphans (because of the war and diseases, an estimated 4 million), there are many street children in the DR Congo. The capital, Kinshasa, contains around 20-25,000 children who go through sleepless nights and have to beg to survive. …show more content…
This is because the hospitals and doctors surgery’s where destroyed during the years of the war. DR Congo are the second-highest rate of infant mortality in the world. There is only 9 public hospitals in all of DR Congo which means the hospital is full and this means many people can share diseases. With up to six million people dead and over two million people not found between 1998 and 2003, DR Congo was home to the deadliest conflict since World War II. At the worst of the war, nine countries were fighting each other on Congo’s soil. Millions more have been driven by starvation in this country that is the size of Western Europe. The victims died either as a direct result of fighting or due to malnutrition and
