Tell me how far would you agree that small amount of people made famous is enough to counterbalance the thousands innocently exploited? In fact, these broadcasted shows make contestants out to be the laughing stock of the nation. Do you really think this creates a good impression for us to other countries either? The most important thing producers have to think about when making a game show is who their target audience is. Who wants to be a Millionaire?'s target audience is probably adults who are over 30. This can be told simply by looking at the time that Millionaire is shown. Millionaire is shown at “prime time” which is usually between six and nine o'clock, thus meeting the requirement of most adults who will have finished work by then. Big Brother however has a slightly wider ranger of audience. Big Brother is on every morning at eight am as well as being censored to…

If you said XFactor you are right. People around the country have been rescheduling their schedules so they could be glued to the telly and watch what it seems to be the end - for now - of an epidemic.…

The genre began in earnest in the early to mid-1990s with The Real World. It then exploded as a phenomenon in the late 1990s and early 2000s with the global success of the series Survivor and Big Brother.[1] These shows and a number of others (usually also competition-based) became global franchises, spawning local versions in dozens of countries. Reality television as a whole has become a fixture of television programming. In the United States, various channels have retooled themselves to focus on reality TV, most famously MTV, which began in the 1980s as a music video pioneer, before switching to a nearly all-reality format in the early 2000s.…

Hello, I’m Jake Lovington and welcome to this week’s review programme, in which we will be focussing on a talent show called the X factor which many people will definitely know about as it’s a super duper hit worldwide. X factor is a sensational singing talent show in which people who have a passion for singing take part in, other than the fact that there have been various people who auditioned for X factor who certainly do have a passion for singing but I guess they also have a passion for humiliation because they believe that they can sing whereas they clearly can’t and all they do is embarrass themselves on television. X factor has been running since September 2004 and still is, this show is one of the most successful talent shows aired on television which millions of people watch globally. In this season of X factor there are four judges who are Louis, Tulisa, Kelly and Gary. Simon Cowell is not in this season so the contestants have better chances of winning. This show is also in competition with the X factor USA which is also being aired at the moment.…

Come on, everyone can agree that not all reality shows are classy sources of entertainment and they’re mostly not informative. But still there are dozens of new reality shows coming up every month. How is that they get produced every so often? It’s not completely about viewer statistics. Reality shows don’t require huge budgets to produce as compared to prime time drama shows. While as drama shows need expensive sets, an all star cast and brilliant story writers (who also need good money) to achieve prime time success; reality shows need none of that. They just need a dirty plot, interesting characters and they’re off to make a commercial success. Every Jane, Sam and Lucy loves a bit of drama and its all the more interesting if you’re made to believe it’s real.…

In 2005 up to 400 million viewers, nearly a third of the population of China sat to watch the grand finale of The Chinese version of American Idol Supergirl Idol. The winner Li Yuchan was chosen via text messages receiving 3.5 million votes. Apart from voting through new age technology ,the 2005 finale also was covered by over 100 newspapers with series of articles and the website sina.com alone received 2.4 million comments on the final night. This was seen as a ground breaking moment in both the economic and cultural sectors of Chinese society. Reality TV can be defined as shows that film and follow ordinary people in artificial situations. They could either be at work or in a competition show. With TV programs such as Super Girl and Boy, Dreams in China, Blind Dating shows, each one has attracted thousands of people to participate. Reality shows in China have generated a lot of revenue for not only companies but for the state. Reality TV is one of the fastest growing sectors. For instance the Shanghai-based Dragon TV's reality-style programmes, is said to have a combined value of about $500million. These programmes had generated a further $1bn for other businesses in Shanghai, in a chain of value-adding that extended from the producer to advertising agents, telecom operators, mobile phone message service providers, entertainment industry design companies and broadband websites. Supergirl Idol, which originated on a Hunan satellite channel, was so successful both commercially and economically that TV stations across China have since produced more than 500 reality shows, ranging from music to martial arts.
