While the University of Texas has such a high attendance of students that go there, the local municipal departments of Austin is right along the road with honors and recognition. Though the city of Austin is not big in citizen count, the local municipal department has its work cut out for them, the crime rate is not low for its amount of citizens the city has in total. This chapter was an overall background of to the rest of the book and it gave you just a quick peek into what is criminology, how did it become, what exactly do criminologists do and why they do it. There were so many different aspects into the history or criminologists and crime that you could easily get lost. The authors wanted to make sure you were able to tie the history of how theories came about to some of the actual things we face in today’s crimes. As you know history is from the start of our time, we had crime back then, and we now have to take what some of the greatest people of our time created and apply it into today’s world of “new” crime (technology, white collar, etc).…
As a young teenager graduating from high school over 17 years ago, I had always vision myself attending a university and pledging in a sorority. However, things didn’t go according as plan. I got caught up in this world called life and became very content not noticing that the life I had always dreamt of for myself was passing me by. Although, I received my Certified Nursing Assistant licensed back in 2001, I knew this wasn’t the career path that I wanted to stay in. I attended Chattanooga State twice before, yet I never finished. I’m an individual that always procrastinate and seems to start things but never finished. As a result of this, I feel that now is the right time for me to attend Chattanooga State. Attending Chattanooga State now will help me improve my career, lead by example and most of all prove to myself that I for once I can accomplish and finish something.…
I made the right choice to attend in Kalamazoo Community College because even that I’m new in college and I still don’t know a lot about what college is about, what benefits I might obtain through my college life or how is college system. Going to college is a very essential step in my life. I’ve always said that education is very important. I have to confess, that KVCC is not my dream college, because it is not a 4 year college. I do want to get my bachelor degree to do so I need to transfer to any university, if my economic resources help me into this process I might attend to Western Michigan University (my college dream). Unfortunately I do not have the Kalamazoo Promise to attend to WMU right away, that’s why I chose KVCC as my 2 year…
The college that I decided to research is called Florida International University or FIU for short. I feel like this college is appropriate for me because many of the amenities available fit my liking. The school has a very large campus and plenty of students to make new friends with, and is located in the heart of Florida. Florida’s weather is similar to Arizona’s, with the exception of humidity, making it feel just like home. There are many extracurricular activities at this college such as sororities and fraternities, a radio station, student council, and much more to keep me busy outside of my studies. This college also has a minimum GPA of 3.4 or greater, allowing me to be surrounded by students who value their education just as much as I do. I think FIU would be a great college for me to consider applying to because it has much of what I look for including size, location, academic and extracurricular programs.…

A critical issue facing criminologists involves recognizing political and social consequences. Often, criminologists forget the social responsibility they have as experts in areas such as crime and justice. The lives of millions of people can be influenced by criminological research data.…
My older sister Kristina, valedictorian for PV, was in NJHS and well she was valedictorian. This is also very important to me because I also have a goal of being valedictorian, so every little bit helps. I would also like to get into a good school, and even if this doesn't make a huge mark, it could provide me with helpful skills for my future. Currently my plans are to go to college and get a degree in physical sciences, or something to help me with my dream job of being a forensic scientist in California. Right now the colleges I’m interested in are I really hope that getting into NJHS would help me do better in high school, college, and my adult life and…
One of the most significant problems in the world now is that of economic inequality, and the social problems it produces. And the most damaging impact may be in developed nations such as the U.S. and Canada. The U.S. in particular has the greatest gap in wealth among all developed nations, and the problem it is causing is becoming more apparent with each passing day. During the recession in the U.S., at least 6 million people have lost their jobs; 25 million are underemployed. Eight trillion dollars of middle class wealth has been destroyed in the housing collapse. One out of eight mortgage holders owe more money on their home than it is worth. Fifty million people live at the poverty level. One of out of 8 people is on food stamps. One out of 2 children will be on food stamps at some point in their lives.…
