Additional follow up investigation took place on the behalf of the Department of Human Services, as well as the Muskogee Police Department. Through the additional investigation, it was determined there was insufficient information or evidence to prove that Muhyra had been sexually assault.
Muhyra underwent a forensic interview and well-child examination. During the forensic interview I observed Muhyra to demonstrate possible concerning behaviors, such as becoming visibly nervous when anatomical drawings were presented in front of her
and failing to verbally engage the interviewer. Muhyra cried and requested her grandmother, which concluded the interview.
Muhyra then underwent the well-child examination which the results appeared to be consistent with a yeast infection, which is what the family believed she had. Muhyra did have a notch at the & o’clock position of her vaginal area, which could be consistent with sexual abuse.
It was determined that the verbal disclosure made by Muhyra was due to her dad having to apply ointment for the yeast infection. At this time there is insufficient information to substantiate DHS findings and insufficient evidence to prove without a doubt that the victim was sexually assaulted. This case is being marked as inactive, with all leads being exhausted at this point.
