In “600 miles to Timbuktu” by Kira Salak, Kira decides to go on an long and hard journey. This took place in West Africa in 2005. What encouraged her to take on this challenge was a man by the name of Mungo Park. She wanted to do the same as Mungo Park and create history. Kira starts the journey in the city of Old Se`gou.
