this lack of productivity leads to the government’s ease in taking the society over.
All of the characters in the novel attempt to create happiness through superficial means, and in a way it works because “everybody’s happy now” (Huxley 75). However, for Linda and John, it is not enough, and especially for John after his mother dies.
B. Efficient Society
The New World is built entirely upon Ford’s principles, and thus Ford is worshipped as a god, this, however, makes it seem as though consumerism is supposed to be valued more than a traditional belief system which teaches morals and values. The government uses this quasi-religion to hold dominion over the society.. throughout the book, many characters address one of the leaders as “your Fordship”, thus implying the person has almost godlike qualities, and immense power. (Huxley 95).
C. Loss of Identity
The inhabitants of te new world all seem to be close to identical, and there are very few specific names given to all of these people. all classes are designed to look a certain way, and everyone is raised being told what to like and not to like for the good of the society. Since everyone is massed produced in test tubes, it follows that there is a lack of the personality that comes with making a
