Summary Of All Gut No Glory By Ginty
The article “All Gut No Glory” by Molly M. Ginty reveals how woman are treated conflictingly in the armed forces and thus do not give servicewoman the recognition they merit. In my opinion, distinct occupations are better suited for men than a woman, and vice versa. Men are physically tenacious; men have a slight upper hand in several professions. With this in mind, truck driving, fighting in combat in the armed forces, and automotive mechanics would be more relevant for men. Truck driving consists of driving in cities all around the country and nine times out of ten, you will be unloading to a few stores. Not to mention, it is physically demanding because you are lifting your body weight or more on a one-handed cart to a store. Secondly, fighting …show more content…
Men would have more natural instincts and get more gratification from fixing a car. Under those circumstances, I know I could not be able to drive a fifty-four foot trailer in crammed zones or unload more than my body weight. In all honesty, I am self-assured I do not wish to serve in combat for the reason that I feel it is not a part of my natural instincts; my natural instincts specifically to take care of people. Finally, being an automotive mechanic; would not do it in a million years. Men and woman are intrigued with diverse professions. For example, my job is to help people that cannot dress, wash and transfer themselves safely. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant. It better suits me because of my natural instincts of wanting and needing to take care of others and I am more compassionate than a man would be. Another instance, my fiancé is a truck driver, this includes driving and unloading. The job is very demanding on his body because he has to walk about a quarter of a mile to some of the unloading stores with a hand cart with 200 pounds on it. Plus, you work from twelve to sixteen hours a day and most of the week he is away from

    Speaking from a woman who is in the military I’m going to elaborate on why I think that women shouldn’t serve in combat positions. It’s scientifically proven that women doesn’t physically perform at the same level as men. For an example, the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) is broken down into two categories’, women and men and in which they have different age groups in which women are held to a lower standards than men. The APFT have different requirements when you turn a certain age meaning your body can’t handle as much as it did when you were younger. Physically a woman skeletal system is less dense and prone to have more breakages than a man. Psychological concerns are that women would be place on the front line and then get pregnant to escape from combat.
