Bulosan believed that every single hardship that he suffered would one day pay off and contribute to a better America. Bulosan himself engaged in the process of leading America to a better standing by contributing his thoughts in the newspaper as well as the autobiography that he published, America Is in the Heart. Bulosan allowed his readers to understand the catastrophes that many immigrants suffered as they were trying to find a little piece of happiness in America. Bulosan himself was a sincere man that managed to restore faith in a young American man that he met in the Los Angeles Country Hospital. This young American boy had also suffered throughout his life in America in a way this young man resembled the life of Bulosan. Bulosan knew the hardships of working as a child and not being able to receive an education and even though Bulosan was still struggling he managed to give this young man advance on how to live a better life, “Rediscover America… it’s only in giving the best we have that we can become a part of America” ( Bulosan 248). This proves that Bulosan was in fact already expressing his idea of a better America by helping a White man that he saw himself
