In many ways DeMott makes a strong point; the media is covering up the real situation between blacks and whites. Racism still exist, poverty among blacks is still critical, and crime is still intensifying. We see blacks and whites creating sweet friendships on the media and forget that behind that TV screen blacks are fighting for justice. We see movies where blacks and white joke about their races and call eachother names like “nigga,” which makes it seem as if we have overcome racism enough to laugh about it.
