Charles Colson and his men were ready to fight and were prepared to give their lives to protect total strangers. We all agree that during the many times that America has been involved in wars. She has been blessed with the …show more content…
proper military strength needed to defend her from her enemies whether they be foreign or domestic. This military is well stocked with brave men who are ready to die for their homeland, their families, friends, and even for strangers. However, some people are of the opinion that these men are fools to give up something that they can never get back. While others believe that these men are heroes that deserve praise.
A person should be willing to lay down their life for strangers for the reasons that it is unselfish, it is unselfish to give the ultimate sacrifice your life for others and it is the hardest sacrifice to give. It is also the most honorable and brave sacrifice a person can ever make. It also seems like the craziest thing a person can do why would anyone want to die to protect someone that they don’t even know. Being willing to give your life for a cause like freedom for others that are enslaved shows significant love. It shows that same love that Jesus Christ had when he paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
Lastly, paying the ultimate price is never easy, and should never be considered by the weak or cowardly as a way to obtain fame. Paying the ultimate sacrifice is only for the strongest and most courageous hearts. The men and women that possess these hearts love others more than themselves, are very unselfish, are quick to volunteer for the more dangerous missions, and they are often the last to retreat. The people that believe that these men and women are fools to be willing to die for others, for a principal like freedom.
They are of the opinion that a person should not lay down their life for someone they don’t know. They believe it is not fair to their families because their families will never see their loved ones again; their kids will never know them; and maybe the people they gave their life for were not worth saving. While it is true that their families will experience great sorrow over the loss of their loved one for those that are Christians it is only a temporary separation they will see their loved one again, and they believe that every life is worth saving no matter how worthless the person seems to be. For those that are not Christians they have no hope of ever seeing their loved one again. All they can do is simply try to cope with their loss, and try to be satisfied with the fact that their loved one was a
hero.
In conclusion, paying the ultimate sacrifice is unselfish, shows significant love, and is the hardest thing any person can do. I would have like to think that this paper applies to all of us for the reason that all of us are in some way recipients of the greatest gift of sacrifice it is through the sacrifice of our forefathers that we are free, it is through the sacrifice of the men and women of our military that we are able to keep our freedom, and it is through Jesus’ sacrifice that we are no longer slaves to sin. He died for us when we were total strangers to him and his love. So the question remains if so many people including the Son of God himself have made sacrifices for us. Then are we going to be unselfish enough to lay down our lives for others if the need arises. Will we be able to give all for Christ? I would like to encourage you to memorize these verses. John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.” And Luke 9:24 “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.”
