Summary Of Boy Of The Painted Cave

Boy of the Painted Cave is a story by Jason Denzel. The book takes place at the Slough, a place where there are many animals to hunt, and at the cave where Graybeard teaches Tao to paint. The main conflict is that Tao wants to paint, but it is taboo or illegal. The main character is Tao, who is telling the story. The main theme is that if you have passion you can accomplish anything, this is because Tao wants to be a cave painter, but he can’t. An example of this is when only people known as chosen ones are allowed to paint. Tao can not be a chosen one because he has a lame foot. As a result, Tao thinks of most of the clan's beliefs to be myths. Making him think the clan’s thoughts, special items such as a shining stone, which is thought
to be magic, reflects and blinds people temporarily but is really the reflection of the sun. Another situation which is similar is when Tao goes to the Slough. This is because had heard what was thought to be cries of a devil. Was really just the sound of a mother bird protecting her eggs. Tao knew most of the clans thoughts which were false were, in fact false.
