Life and death seemed to play a large role in the book. They fought to find a way out, to live their lives as they normally do. I think that we are all clocks and like the clock that the man upstairs had changed and configured,
our lives can be changed and ruined by one single change. When Linus first pointed it out to Russell it seemed like it was completely unimportant, but I think that it is an important part of the book. He changed their lives significantly by leaving six completely different people to die. When all of them were in the bunker they attempted, many times, to escape and return to their old lives, but at the end of the book, when the generator stopped working, they seemed to lose hope and embraced their undeniable deaths. One important thing to take out of this book is that our lives can change drastically, so we should live our lives to the fullest.
