“The Yellow Wallpaper” was published in 1892, and was written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. She wrote this in comparison of her own experiences, which is about the postpartum depression she suffered with. It was published in order to inform the doctors at that time that this was a serious illness, and it needed to be addressed and treated differently than it was at that time period. The story shows how the mental stability of a woman who suffers from this illness progresses over a period of time if not treated properly.
The woman in the story seems to know that what she needs is to get out more however, due to her husband being a physician she listens to him, and others, and continues to stay on bed rest. His failure to properly
