Sometimes, a change may seem like the worst thing ever, but it may be the right thing to do. In the story, the missionaries came into the village to live there. They started spreading their religion, and they asked for a piece of land, which was given to them. The white men ended up bringing their governments, and before you know it, they’re changing the village. From the looks of it okonkwo doesn’t like the change, and the village is changing quickly. Things were beginning to change in the ibo culture overnight. “Some of these prisoners had thrown away their twins.” (174/2). Throughout the story, i learned many of the igbo cultures beliefs and religion. In the story, it says that when a woman gives birth to twins, the ibo culture believes that one twin will be evil. There’s no way in telling which one is evil, so to be safe, they throw them both in the evil forest. Since the white men have came, they brought their governments along with them, so now it’s a crime to throw your twins away. This shows how much the igbo culture has changed over time. “Those who believed such stories were unworthy of the lord’s table.” (185/2).
