Ricky, Timmy’s younger brother, is described by Evelyn as “difficult” citing he is rebellious and she is unable to control his behavior (Walsh, 2013, p. 34). Evelyn adds Ricky has ceased from accompanying her to visit Timmy at Pinecrest. Kathy Scott and Dana Bruer were both employed by Hospice of Springville; Kathy is a social worker with a Master Degree in Theology and Social Work and Dana is the pediatric team nurse with many years of experience with hospice. Kathy met with Evelyn in private to gain background to determine the reasons that Evelyn wanted Timmy moved to Hospice of Springville. During the initial with Evelyn, Hospice of Springville, and Pinecrest Intermediate Care Facility, the meeting was headed by Sister Anne, the nurse responsible nurse for overseeing Timmy’s care. Evelyn Brampton become increasingly upset as the meeting progresses after she expressed to Sister Anne, “I don’t want Timmy’s infections treated with antibiotics. Given his condition, treating him with antibiotics is an extraordinary measure, that’s only prolonging his life” (Walsh, 2013, p. 38). After Sister Anne failed to answer Evelyn’s questions directly, the meeting ended Kathy was still unsure of as to whether or not to accept Timmy as a patient of Hospice of…
Martin Blackwell was sentenced to forty years in a Georgia prison, as a result of deliberately throwing boiling water towards a gay couple, Anthony Gooden and Marquez Tolbert, while they were sleeping. This action left the gay couple with grievous and painful burns which required surgery. At the age of forty eight, Martin Blackwell was found guilty on several accounts, which include eight counts of battery and two counts of aggravated assault. Henry Newkirk, the Fulton County Superior Court Judge addressed that Martin Blackwell’s actions towards Anthony Gooden and Marquez Tolbert were mischievous and pernicious. Likewise, the persecutors agreed with this matter being a vengeful attack and crime. After pouring the boiling hot water on the gay…
Cushing’s syndrome is the term used to describe a group of symptoms that occur when a persons’ cortisol levels are too high (known as hypercortisolism) for too long. The majority of people have Cushing’s syndrome because they are regularly taking certain medicine(s) that continually add too much cortisol to the body. Doctors call this an “exogenous” (outside the body) cause of Cushing’s syndrome. Other people have Cushing’s syndrome because something is causing the adrenal gland(s) to overproduce cortisol.5 Doctors call this an “endogenous” (inside the body) cause of Cushing’s syndrome.…
Ms. Marsha Geddings contacted the Client Assistance Program pertaining to her meeting with her new counselor on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. I reviewed Ms. Geddings’ case and I would like to obtain some additional information from the Lexington Area Office. The Client stated she has some anxiety about her meeting to develop her IPE. I am getting the impression from the case notes that the Area Office Supervisor has and is continuing to address the Client’s concern by reassigning the case to a different counselor. I only have a concern about Ms. Geddings’ willingness to address her anxiety.…
Edith Windsor the woman who made history on June 26th, 2013 fought the Supreme Court claiming that Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was unconstitutional. Edith and her partner Thea Spyer were together for 40 years and married in 2007. After her partner died in 2009, she could not receive the same benefits that a opposite sex couple could and was told to pay $363,000 in estate taxes. With DOMA, Edith was not considered a spouse by the federal government and this made her ineligible to receive the tax benefits of a married couple. The federal tax code recognizes that it is unfair to tax spouses when property is received upon death. Also some states have a benefit that exempts Property Tax upon a spouse 's death. Which in a heterosexual marriage if a spouse passes the property is just passed along as without paying estate taxes. Edith spent an estimated $600,000 to pay the state and federal taxes to receive her partners’ home. This injustice made her fight for her rights which brought the case of the United States v. Windsor. Her courage has opened new doors for same sex partners.…
For my interview I choose to speak to Jaquetta Harris, executive director of the leasing department at the Rochester Housing Authority (RHA). Having been employed with RHA for less than one year, Mrs. Harris has had to overcome many obstacles accompanied with being new to the organization and also being an African American female leader. Being both African American and a female, has in the past caused much heart ache for many aspiring African American women. However, Mrs. Harris has had years of experience leading from various other jobs; the most recent being an executive director with the Volunteers of America organization.…

This theory of father and son as caretaker counterparts is all but confirmed in the characterization and actions of Mrs. Gurney, who is essentially the broad and encompassing personification of all that have come before her: she is sad, confused, and dysfunctional. By definition, her last name literally means a hospital stretcher. As the two begin to trek across the beach towards her home, it does not take long before she lives up to it. Soon, Mrs. Gurney has her arm “strangled” around Kurt’s neck like a fallen soldier as the boy shouts commands, “Keep your head down, Mrs. Gurney! I’ll guide you!” This portrayal from the protagonist’s point of view aims to mimic the intensity and feel of a war zone.…

Connie is so use to the ridicule and criticism, that her natural defense mechanism allows her to ignore the hurtful comments. However, the negative comments sometimes become so overwhelming, that Connie wishes for the demise of her mother and herself. “Connie’s mother kept picking at her until Connie wished her mother was dead and she herself was dead and it was all over.” (2/16) This relationship is clearly unhealthy with the woman that should be her first role model, her mother. It is believed that a daughter’s “first love” is her father, and that every child should have a strong male role model in their life. Contrary to belief, Connie’s father has limited to no influence on her or the household. He is not involved with them and has no interest to be. The story states…
