Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou
Numerous thoughts scattered through my mind as I strived to comprehend this poem. In my opinion, the writer’s main intentions of this poem was to convince the readers to take heed to yourself and no one else. In this poem the author illustrates a female that is imperfect but she is content regardless. I can honestly say this poem made me felt overwhelmed. The logic behind was because I had no idea I would have enjoyed it. It indirectly administered me food for thought and how I can apply it to life. I would strongly suggest that adolescents and teens read this poem because it can assist them in coping with peer pressure.
Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson
This poem is relating to unfortunate death of an affluent man. The author demonstrates the paradox of a male that appears to portray the image that he has the ideal life. When in reality it is not what it depicts it as. I can personally relate to this poem because I have somewhat mutual feelings as Richard. It is extremely difficult and tiring to maintain an image especially when you feel completely opposite. I totally understood why he committed suicide which was because of depression and exhaustion of trying to display an image you are not. For the main point of the poem was not that he killed himself but instead exterior presentation may not always imply what is happening on the inside. Also another point was that you can have all the material things but once you are not surrounded by love, they will serve no purpose.
The Heavenly Christmas Tree by Fyodor Dostoevsky
This story was not anywhere near interesting to me. It starts off with a narrative point of view in a first person context. The main character was the prisoner and the main point of view was that they are laid back in the jail and they being under the influence is not an issue. This has been an ongoing problem in prisons globally and in this story the officials try their best to ignore

In this poem the speaker is a woman. The majority of the poem she talks about what it means to be a woman in her day and age, how it limits her speech, and allows people to make unfair conclusions about her. As far as she is concerned, her critics can't even begin to look past the fact that she's a woman, or imagine that a woman could do something other than work in the kitchen.…

My goal when writing this paper is to get my opinion and perspective on the poem across to my classmates so they know where I stand, but also to remain broad enough in my writing so that my readers can compare their own response to mine. Maybe in doing that, I can help a fellow classmate or two who has a block and is stuck in the middle of the assignment.…

Most girls grow up and think there are certain standards they need to reach in order to feel liked. Standards that are designed to create the perfect image that are otherwise impossible to reach. And when one cannot meet these standards, they feel a sense of humiliation and loathing towards oneself. In this poem, the speaker does not have a lot of self-confidence, for she feels her “bones didn’t fit in [her] body” (32). The speaker felt foreign and awkward in her body and had a…

People should be able to be who they wanna be and be able to say what they want to say. Others should not judge them or ignore them because everyone has their own opinions on a topic. Many people would go and speak to someone thinking they are lower than them and then realizing they have much more potential than they thought. The last line in the poem is “Appreciate the blessing I am meant to be”. Everyone is unique and have so much to say but are always ignored, this is frustrating to them because they can not express their feelings.…

She creates an illusion throughout the poem on how men surround her as a result of her self confidence, but this does not apply in real life. She does this to portray her opinion on how men should be enticed to how a woman can be confident in their own shoes. Helping them develop a sense of independence and self love which in return gains the attention of men. Women get a chance to better themselves, something they have to do in order to be distinguished in a high manner. Making the reader feel empowered that they can have such an effect on others by being themselves.…

The meaning and theme of the poem Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou is the idea that all women are beautiful and that beauty is found in the way that a woman carries herself. Poet Angelou suggests that beauty is determined not by whether a woman looks a model, but whether she has her head on her shoulders, confidence, grace and the ability to not let anything bring down her pride. A woman is phenomenal because of these aspects, rather than her physical appearance.…

I think the message of the poem is, that you shouldn’t pick on people before knowing them and the consequences of it. People get hurt when they are teased and not treated nice. They can get in psychological imbalance and react by hurting other people. Often they end up taking their own life. A lot of people is getting hurt and their lifes is ruined.…

Her words portray an extremely strong and intelligent woman, describing how women aren’t nearly as naïve as some men may think. To her, and her experience, it seems to have become something she’s quite familiar with, and she seems to know how to handle the situation. Although it is a short poem, it is direct, and straight to the point. Reading it, it seems to be much more than what is being said. It veers to a more profound perceptive of what women truly want out of a relationship. She wants something more than just the physical relationship that men tend to want the most.…
