Summary Of George Washington's Farewell Address
George Washington's Farewell Address This Farewell Adress is about george washington leaving his presidency and giving advice to future presidents such as staying away divisive party politics. He also warned to not engage in permanent alliances with other countries. The author is george washington widely known as the first president of the United States although he is also known for many other things such as being the richest man in the colonies at that time. He wasn’t really successful with being a general he lost many battle the only significant battle he won in the American Revolution is Yorktown which was the last battle even though he wasn’t a great general he was a smart man since he really knew how to listen and take in facts and make a decision, and this decision to leave is since he didn’t want to become a king the very thing america fought to get rid of. …show more content…
George washington being a major general in the war really believed in that cause, but slowly he was becoming the thing that he fought against a king. For this reason his morals didn’t allow him to take advantage of the power he was giving so he can give the torch to someone else that wasn’t his son which was truly revolutionary and he even gave them advice as well. The Purpose of this Address is to announce to the public that he won't become a king and that he will step down so another can stand up it was also meant to inform future presidents what to not do since they really wasn’t a rule book and expectations of a how a president should act they just took george washington as an example of a true president. It work partly since the public did understand and was proud of him but the future presidents didn’t really listen to his advice for example we have been an ally of france since 1778 and today we have divisive party
