indicates the problem he encounters and the how he feels about students are plagiarizing that they try
to trick him as a stupid person. The author surprisingly finds out the papers he was marking did not connect to it’s sentence structures; therefore, he suspiciously entered the strange sentence and angrily realized students copied some other people’s work on internet. Mr. Malesic first feels insulted by those easy-catching plagiarisms who think they could trick him by using astounding low skill of plagiarizing: copy and paste. Later, the author starts analyzing the reasons why students plagiarize. The results he comes out are that some students
are too lazy to do their own work and some are afraid to be failed and others want to score really high grade even if they have to cheat. Malesic also mentions the famous quote by Ludwig Feuerbach which explain the two different kinds of bad poets. As the result, author wants to improve those cheaters nature not only their minds. The paradox author does not understand is that if the students can simply know the different between their work and the content on internet, they will be able to write an work which they are assigned to do. In the end, Malesic claims that plagiarism is a lame attitude which is a sign shows one does not want to be educated because they limits their satisfying academic standard. The people who plagiarize are no longer treats as a student and should be kick out of class. (260)
Response of How Dumb Do They Think We Are by Alex
After reading this article, I am glad that I have never done plagiarize in any English class due to the fact that I realize how easy I would be caught if I do so. Although sometimes I am lazy to do my own work, I would still do it for myself because I know how critical the penalty will be if I plagiarize. The English instructors are well-trained profession in this area; therefore, plagiarism is considered to be insulting their knowledge. Also, it would show how ignorant I am to challenge them by copying other people’s work on internet and expect not to be revealed by teachers. In addition, I have never thought about how teachers feel when they catch somebody who is cheating on copying; the anger of sadness and disrespectful. As a student, my job is to learn knowledge from instructors. The grade reflects how much I absorb from teacher and I believe that the true gold do not fear to be heated by fire. (167)
