Summary Of I Am The Cheese
“I turn away, and beat at the cabin door asking them to let me in, to please let me in…
The darkness gathers me” - Adam Farmer

I Am The Cheese by Robert Cormier has a very captivating plotline, intriguing characters and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The chapters alternate between the main character, Adam Farmer and his narration of his journey to Vermont to find his father, and a recorded tape series between two characters revealed throughout the story. Cormier kept the book interesting with these two perspectives, revealing more information about the characters between each switch of the chapters. It is a very interesting writing style that I enjoyed and the author executes it nicely. The book was easy to read, nothing confusing left unsolved, for

Adam rode his bike through the states to find his father and deliver his gift to him.

The central story follows Adam on his ride to his father, He starts in the early morning in Monument and over the course of a few days finally makes his way to Vermont, with many stops in between. The tape recordings are also very, very important in the plot, a recorded tape series between a patient and a doctor, recovering blank memories of the patient. Without giving away too much, many memories are recovered, leading up to a devastating twist in the plotline.

I haven't read many books written in the way Cormier wrote this one, and I believe it was very well written. It is extremely unique, no other books come to mind when I think of one like this. You get the experience of being in Adam’s mind through his trek to Vermont, we get his true emotion of the situation from his thoughts. We also get a sort of professional point of view from the recorded tapes, as if we, as the reader, are analyzing the recorded tapes to get information from the patient and to help them recover the blacked out

You can’t get away from mysteries in this novel. Every time one is solved, it springs up another. For example, when the mystery of Sam’s identities is solved, it brings up another: why have three identities (Turtle Wexler discovers the answer behind this secret)? When Turtle discovers the true identity of the firebomber, why does she cover for her? When all of the clues are pieced together, why did they point to what seems to be an innocent soup kitchen worker? The novel truly incorporates mystery into every aspect of its story and they aren’t truly solved until the final page. When David’s story begins, his life is a stable and happy one, and his family are close and loving. Throughout time, people have had to go through change. Whether it had been moving to a new city or starting a new job, people all around the world have to deal with it. Every person that has endured change has had their own way to handle it. Some people complain and fail to comply with the fact that change will happen and others strive to be a part of the future to come. Dr. Spencer Johnson took note of this when he wrote “Who Moved My Cheese.” This simple story demonstrated the ways that many people deal with change. Using evidence from the story, I have to come to the conclusion that the best way to deal with change is the same way the Sniff and Scurry did, immediately adapt when change comes.…

ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is vital to living organisms. It acts as a short-term store of energy in a cell, carrying it from where it is synthesised (e.g. the mitochondria) to where it is needed for biological processes. It is well suited to this job for the following reasons: it is small and soluble (and so can be easily transported around a cell); it is easily broken down to release energy; it can transfer energy to other molecules; and it cannot leave the cell. All of these facts mean that ATP is always available to the cell as an immediate source of energy.…

In the beginning of The Cheese and the Worms, the readers are introduced to a miller named Domenico Scandella, who the narrator refers to as Menocchio. It was uncertain where Menocchio retained his knowledge, but it is obvious that he picked up learning how to read somewhere. No one knows for sure, but it is assumed that there was a school built near Menocchio’s village. It may have been possible for Menocchio to attend this school and have the opportunity to learn to read books, like the bible. Menocchio was a miller, was married and had eleven children. He also was the mayor of his village.…
