It's truly amazing to see how much the rights have changed for women from 1872 to 2016. It does appear that women have more rights but unfortunately they are still not treated equal or they have the same equality as men. Yes, affluent white women are making gains in the business and political world have made great strides, but women of a lower socio-economics still struggle. For example, women still battle for equal pay in similar jobs with men. Women also are not paid or recognized as equals in the professional sports world. The speech was compelling to me because of what women experienced and fought for over a century ago. It is hard to comprehend that women were fighting to define themselves as persons, “ Are women persons? ….. Being persons, than, women are citizens;” “Susan B. Anthony was arrested, tried and fined $100 for voting in the 1872 presidential election.” I wonder what Susan B. Anthony would think today, over a century ago she was arrested for voting and now we have a woman running for President of the United States of America. Would she be overjoyed with the progress that women have made, or would she think the gains women have made was too
