In the story a case of amontillado the character montresor a wealthy socially high ranking individual narrates his story of how another wealthy high ranking individual fortunato had intentionally wronged him many times and had gone so far as to start insulting him about it maybe publicly or just making fun of how he was doing it privately. He then convinces fortunato to come with him to the catacombs or “wine vaults” under his house to test some good wine.
