Summary Of Morey: A Short Story
Betty said, relieved she had a clue. "That's a good start." Morey answered. "I'm going to go talk to her about that, right now." Morey ran inside to question Dixie about the wool, and what Betty had witnessed. "Half of the wool from every bag has gone missing this morning. Betty said she had heard you mumbling about how badly you want a new wool sweater, so it's possible you could've stolen more wool to make the sweater. I have no time for questions. I just need the truth, Dixie." Morey said, brutally demanding an answer. "Excuse you? Of course I hadn't stolen any wool. Yes, I was talking to myself about how badly I would want a new sweater. That doesn't mean I would steal extra material. If anything, I would make a wool blanket. Even …show more content…
I explained to him about how I would need more wool to actually create an entire blanket. He felt sorry, so what if he stole the wool to make me a new blanket? It makes sense. There isn't a point in lying. You know it. I know it." Morey blankly explained. "I can't keep hiding the truth. Yes. I stole the wool. But only to have my mother sew a blanket for Dixie. I thought that 2 1/2 bags would get Dixie the blanket she wanted. I'm sorry." Beavus apologized …show more content…
"It isn't necessarily easy for Dixie and I to do this to you, but we agree it what needs to be done. We know you stole the wool for a good cause, but that doesn't change the fact that you robbed our great quality wool that is worth good money. You took the free offer for granted and quickly became greedy. In result, we have decided to never give you wool again. This isn't debatable. You can still come over whenever you please, as long as Dixie or myself is there to watch your every move. You can also help around the farm, but will not be paid. This isn't

She thinks to herself, “I didn’t want to bring up how I has offered Dee (Wangero) a quilt when she went away to college. Then she had told me they were old-fashioned, out of style”(320). The mother is in disbelief at Dee, who only wants to use her heritage as something for show and tell. Those same blankets she had once refused she now wanted because they fit her own aesthetic, and not at all for the value and meaning behind those quilts. The mother then decides to do something unheard of and, “hugged Maggie to me, then dragged her on into the room, snactched the quilts out of Miss Wangero’s hands and dumped them into Maggie’s lap”(321). The mom has chosen her true heritage over the false, glamorized one that her eldest daughter has decided to create. She gives the quilts to Maggie because in her heart she knows that Miss Wangero does not deserve them, that Maggie can truly appreciate them and know who she is and where she’s come…

coat. Anything!" My brain, that precision instrument, slipped into high gear. "Anything?" I asked, looking at him narrowly. "Anything," he affirm in ringing tones. I stroked my chin thoughtfully. It so happened that I knew where to get my hands on a coat. My father had had on one in his undergraduate days; it lay now in a trunk in the attic back home. It also happened that Petey had something I wanted. He didn't have it exactly, but at least he had first rights on it. I refer to his girl, Polly Espy.... I was a freshman in law school. In a few years I would be out in practice. I was well aware of the importance of the right…
