Evan Hunter author of the story , “One the Sidewalk Bleeding” uses imagery details to develop a dark and gloomy feeling thought the story . At the beginning of the story is set with a gloomy and sad feeling . The author symbolizes objects like rain and blood which gives it a dark and sad feeling . “He lay on the sidewalk with the March rain drilling his jacket and drilling this body and washing away the open wound”(36) . The imagery of the rain washing the blood creates a dark and painful mood . The author paints an image of a very painful feeling , as the character is hurt . For example , “Their was only bubbling of blood from between his lips whenever he opened his mouth to speak” (37) . The imagery of the bubbling blood creates a
