Summary Of Personal Narrative: Killer Bees
When I was a teenager, I was spending the summer at my uncle's farm in Nebraska. Three days after arriving at the isolated farm I decided to hitchhike out of there. I woke up in a cold sweat last night, screaming and crying as the horror of what happened that fateful day erupted from being buried in my unconscious all these many years. The nightmare of unknown horrors swarmed my consciousness like killer bees.

My neighbor Jerry, a forensic psychiatrist by day, heard by screams and burst into my house carrying a 9mm glock ready for action and to save me from my attacker(s). Finding me alone and not set upon by tormentors, he held me tight in his arms until my sobbing and trembling subsided. I told him of my old memories, breaking the surface of my consciousness. He reached into his bathrobe pocket and gave me a handful of Clonazepam 2 mg tablets saying to take one every 4 hours until I calmed down.

For that I needed an attorney he said. He gave me the telephone number of an attorney to call in the morning. After breakfast and Mass Sunday morning, I dialed up attorney Gloria Allred. She answered during the first ring. After explaining my hitchhiking experience years ago and the nightmare Saturday night, she said that either Bill Cosby or Roger Ailes was responsible and should be made to pay for what they had done. The guy that picked me up that day so long ago was white so Roger Ailes was our perp Gloria

For the past month I have been engaging in a literature circle where my group and I have been reading and analyzing the book The Secret Life of Bees. The author Sue Monk Kidd conveyed the message that family is not defined by blood. In the beginning of the book Lily thought that she can only find a mother and daughter bond from her biological mother. She was extremely persistent and her one goal was to learn more about her mother and find out what life would have been like if her mother was still alive. She constantly feels her mother's absence and feels as though no one besides her real mother can fill this whole. As the story progresses we see Lily’s ideas change as she realizes that motherhood is much more than a biological relationship. She opens her heart to the people who love her and accepts them as her own mother-figures. Lily’s views…

They wanted to get away from danger and racism. In the house, Lily finds out secrets about her dead mother and tries to learn more about her. The story shows a lot of cruelty. When an author uses their writing to represent cruelty in a story, it can be helpful in contributing to the overall theme or message. The cruelty that occurs in the story is racism, and it helps develop the theme of anyone can overlook stereotypes. In the book cruelty is shown when the three men are harassing Rosaleen on her way to register to vote, and when Lily was afraid to tell anyone that she and…

Another theme that Kidd would like to share is truth. She understands that hearing the truth isn't what everyone wants at some points, but some people rather hear lies. The emotions are confusing some people would like to hide away then facing the facts. Kidd constructs a flexible and logical life for lily. She applies the love and the past of Lilys mother. She wants the readers to understand no matter how many people lie to you that the truth will always hurt, that the truth is the truth, and there's nothing anybody can do to change it. Kidd’s second idea is that she wants people to adapt to what is real.…

The poet Maya Aneton once said “It [is] one of the greatest gifts [a person] can give [him or herself] to forgive. Forgive everybody.” It is difficult sometimes for people to forgive themselves for past issues or transgressions. The result often becomes an inability to exculpate others as well. However, if a person can seek forgiveness, then happiness will become more apparent in his or her life. In the novel The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Monk Kidd demonstrates how contentment becomes prevalent in a person's life through the characters Lily and June once they seek forgiveness. Lily, a fourteen-year-old runaway white girl, not only struggles to forgive herself, but her father, T Ray, and her mother for their wrongdoings in her lifetime. Similarly, June, one of the Boatwright sisters that takes in Lily when she runs away, strives to pardon her ex fiance and Lily’s mother due to the undeserved way they treated June in her past.…

Many times throughout a person’s life their opinions are always changing; as we grow and develop our ideas, our beliefs mature as well. As a child someone could say their favorite TV show is Arthur then when they get older it could be CSI. In The Secret Life of Bees Lily’s understanding of race is changing throughout the whole book. At first she sees race as a political issue. Then, toward the middle of the book she notices that African-Americans are not the only ones hurt by racism. Lastly, at the end of the book Lily does not even mind what someone’s race is and just is unconcerned with race.…

One night we were at Emili Lewis’s house. A few of us girls wanted to try to stay up all night. It had been raining so we decided we wanted to go for a drive. This point of the night it was like 1:30 a.m. We drove for a little while before we got bored. We decided to brainstorm some ideas of stuff to do. We decided we wanted to go out to Box Canyon in Kaitlin’s truck to look at the stars. It took us a little while to get everything put together. We finally started heading out there at 3:00 a.m. On the way out there we passed a truck. The truck was very short, matte black, and had a circle light bar in between the headlights. None of us recognized the truck and we got a little nervous. We decided to ignore it and keep going. For the rest of the drive we talked about boys, problems, and then we started talking about scary stuff. When we got out there we were too scared to get out of the truck, so we turned around and started back into town. We got…

In a global city such as London, one might expect to find a variety of people from many distinct cultures and backgrounds. The extent to which this is true, however, can only be realized when immersed in the sights and sounds of multiculturalism for the first time. This is something I personally hope to encounter in December, but experienced from the perspective of a young Nigerian girl in Little Bee, by Chris Cleave, this awareness is magnified and even takes on a life of its own. Culture is a huge aspect of this novel, and the issues that accompany it, along with other themes, create a world revolving not only around immigration and cross-cultural differences, but love and the length to which one family will go to save a girl who was once just another victim of an African oil war.…

For me, my imagination ran wild and I believed I was in a “near death” experience, when in reality it was just a harmless prank.
