Summary Of Sharpning Contradictions By Juan Cole
Juan Cole’s “Sharpening Contradictions”, is about Al-Qaeda wanting to mentally colonize French Muslims to create a political identity around grievance against discrimination. The goal is to “prey on unmooring people, mobilizing their energies and wealth for the purposes of a self-styled great leader” (Cole, 157). Turkey possibly could of attacked the Kurds in Syria for this very reason. As I stated in the last paragraph, Turkey is doing whatever it can to prevent the Syrian Kurds from attempting to mentally colonizing the Kurds in Turkey for revolution. Cole would say with regards to the situation in Syria that it would be inevitable for the Turkish Kurds to begin an insurgency operation within their borders. Cole mentions in his final paragraph
