Summary Of Short Story 'The Storm'

1. In the first short story “The Storm” the setting was a small store in Louisiana that was located not far from the home of Bobinot and Calixta. The location of the store set the tone of events that followed when the storm approach the area. The graphic notion of sexual interest between Calixta and Alcee is brought to life in the secluded store during the storm. Now for the second short story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” the setting is a family road trip though portions of Georgia and Tennessee and other unknown southern states. The important of random location in the families round leads up the climax of their journey. The grandmother in the begging is emulated to be a person who has been there and seen it all.

The first story to me came off interesting with a curiosity of what scene of event would follow in the store, and how they manage to get away with adultery with Calixta feeling a sense of relief sexual tension. Yes the story had a message but came off a little ruff with adultery being ok. The second story to me is not based on so much of the title of the short story, but more on the focal point of why good men turn bad. The purpose to me was to show all men are not alike and that some men make poor decision in their life giving them the title of bad men.
4. The first story is more flat and the character role of the Calixta and Alcee to me only focuses around lust. The reason I say only lust is the tone of narrator gives only power though when it comes to the sexual encounter. The aspect of the character in the second story is more round character because the conversation or history is only known for one particular character. Thus giving the reader mystery on the motive of the bad men and what future is entitled for
