Summary Of Spear Fish
On August 1803, Daniel Griffith, Will Griffith, and their Pa is building a cabin in the state of Ohio. Their Pa had bought land in a forest to build a cabin for the whole family. The two boys helped their Pa find good enough trees to have logs made for the cabin. The days flew by one-by-one, and winter was slowly coming. They had plentiful food supplies to last them for six-to-eight weeks and a creek nearby for water. They got the idea to make a trap to trap rabbits and meant more food for them (Leeuwen

The first chapter goes back in history and sets up the story and setting. It was the eighteenth century and the Americans were beginning to invade the lands west of the Mississippi River. This caused problems because even though Americans saw the lands as an unoccupied region, Sitting Bull and his Lakota or Sioux people knew it as their homeland. While the Indians were living their normal lives by hunting and following the buffalo, the Americans were moving out west and fast. They established a railway and were on the move for gold. The buffalo population was rapidly decreasing because they interfered with the railroad and the Americans were killing them. This dramatic decrease of buffalo caused a struggle for the Indians because buffalo was their main supplier for resources like food, clothing, and shelter.…

In the Pacific Northwest, salmon are an incredibly important part of the ecosystem. Their presence indicates the health of rivers and there are over 100 species that depend on salmon as a source of food (Rahr). As salmon move from saltwater systems into freshwater systems again, they bring essential nutrients with them. These nutrients are put back into the ecosystem when the salmon are consumed and when their bodies start to decompose. Many of these nutrients even make their way back into the forest when bears drag the bodies of their prey away from the river (Rahr). The cycling of nutrients is essential when it comes to the health of forests and rivers. Besides improving the overall health of the ecosystems that they are a part of, salmon…
