Therefore, it became necessary for Security staff to go hands on. Security Officers Alonso and Ayuso using MOAB Techniques had to put the patient down on his bed controlling his arms and legs while the nurse administered the medication. The patient struggled a bit attempting to get up but did not escalate the situation to where it was necessary to use soft restraints to control him. After the medication was given the patient was released by Security and he remained calm and did not try to retaliate or fight back. Officers Johnson and Evans kept on eye on patient Montalvo while this was happening and were not forced to go hands on with the second patient. Security Staff stood by until the medication took effect with patient Atsu who was the aggressor during this…

According to Crittenden, behavior is learnt through seeing what someone else does. This can be explained further through the experiment of classical conditioning. Classical Conditioning was developed by Ivan Pavlov. Pavlov used the experiment of dogs and food so as to measure the levels of salivation that a dog produced when food had been associated with the assistant. He developed this experiment when he noticed that the dog was starting to salivate at the sight of the bowl of the food and not the taste. He decided to experiment further and he introduced a bell which was the neutral stimulus, it had no effect at the start but when he rang the bell when he brought the food to the dogs they started to associate the food (which made them salivate) with the bell. Now that classical conditioning had taken place the dogs would salivate at the sound of the bell which was now the conditioned stimulus.…

People with dementia are no different from people without; like most people they will retain their usual eating habits, tastes and preferences of a lifetime. However, dementia can greatly affect a person’s relationship with food and eating. As dementia progresses eating and drinking can become difficult for some people. Eating and drinking involve the co-ordination of complex physical and mental activities. These activities are often affected by the progressive impairment of memory, thinking, planning, perception, organisation, communication and skilled movement that are associated with dementia. Consequently, eating and drinking may also be affected by environmental issues, lack of person-centred care planning, physical problems, such as pain or swallowing difficulties, poor concentration, food refusal and side effects of medication.…
