The author refers to Antonio Cruz and Felix Varga as the "amigo brothers" because they both are seventeen years old and are so close that they are practically brothers. I know this because in the text it states, "Antonio Cruz and Felix Varga were both seventeen years old. They were so together in friendship that they felt themselves to be brothers." This evidence shows me why the author referred to Antonio Cruz and Felix Varga as brothers. Both boys shared a dream of becoming the lightweight champion of the world. I am aware of this because in the the paragraph 3 it states, "Each youngster had a dream of someday becoming lightweight champion of the world."
