Sometimes gangs offer a chance to be a family when families aren’t there for you. Without friends, you don’t know what love and affection are because you aren’t getting that at home. You are forced to look elsewhere. I believe that if you don’t get love at home and are treated bad, you will go somewhere where you can get those things. In the book, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, Johnny Cade didn’t get those things at home. He found a gang of boys that gave him what he thought he needed. He needed to fit in, to be cared about, and in this gang he did.
